Simple Serger Projects Class Series
Sergers are growing in popularity among the home sewer, but it’s also a machine that many either find intimidating or think it’s a one trick pony. Whatever camp you fall into, this class is geared entirely for broadening the horizons on exactly what all the basic 4-thread serger can do for you! We’ll cover some garment sewing, some home dec, some re-purposing, and whatever else strikes our fancy!

This class is open to all ages and skill levels, offering a supportive, enthusiastic and fun loving environment with class sizes limited to a maximum of 6 in order to ensure that personalized attention can be given to everyone. I strive to emphasize creativity, individuality and problem solving skills using the techniques or materials challenges found within any given project. If you look through my Pinterest Board called “Classes & Students Taught” you’ll see that many times student ask to customize projects based on what interests them. I’m happy to adjust the group project as needed to try to accommodate and encourage this creativity!

What kind of machine works best? These projects will work with a 4-thread serger and the more advanced models as well. It is recommended that everyone know how to thread their serger prior to joining for this class. Take a look at the Learn Your Serger class – it’ll make sure you’re ready to hit the ground running!
What to bring? This class does not include materials unless specifically noted. If there is a hard-to-find material being asked for, then Dravon usually has some there to purchase on the day of class. You’ll need the following regardless of the individual project: (A) Your machine along with the power cord, foot control, all accessories that came with it (such as tweezers); (B) Basic sewing notions such as pins, scissors, marking pens, etc; (C) Whatever materials the class list calls for including cones of thread to serge with.
